Aesculus octandra
Yellow Buckeye (Aesculus octandra), also known as the Sweet Buckeye, is a large deciduous tree native to the eastern United States, particularly in the Appalachian region. It typically grows 50–90 feet tall, with a straight trunk and a rounded crown. The tree is noted for its smooth, gray bark and palmately compound leaves with 5–7 lance-shaped leaflets. In spring, it produces upright clusters of pale yellow to greenish-yellow flowers. The fruit is a smooth, leathery capsule containing 1–3 glossy brown seeds. The Yellow Buckeye is prized for its ornamental qualities, tolerance of various soils, and vibrant yellow-orange fall foliage.
