Sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum) is a deciduous tree native to the southeastern United States, known for its striking beauty and unique features. In late spring to early summer, Sourwood produces fragrant, bell-shaped white flowers in long clusters, attracting pollinators like bees. The tree’s bark is smooth and gray, becoming more ridged with age. Sourwood thrives in acidic, well-drained soils and prefers partial to full sun. It is valued for its ornamental appeal, honey production (Sourwood honey), and autumn color.
