Description
Magnolia x soulangeana
The Magnolia × soulangeana, commonly known as Saucer Magnolia, is a deciduous hybrid tree or large shrub admired for its striking springtime blooms. A cross between Magnolia denudata and Magnolia liliiflora, it produces large, goblet-shaped flowers in shades of pink, purple, or white, often with a contrasting interior. Blooming in early to mid-spring before the foliage appears, it creates a spectacular display. The tree features broad, dark green leaves in summer and smooth gray bark, adding seasonal interest. Hardy and versatile, Saucer Magnolia thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic soil and is a favorite choice for ornamental landscaping.
