Maclura pomifera
The Osage Orange (Maclura pomifera) is a hardy, deciduous tree native to North America, valued for its dense wood and unique, wrinkled, green fruit resembling a large orange. Growing 30–50 feet tall, it has a rounded crown, glossy, dark green leaves that turn yellow in fall, and thorny branches (though thornless varieties exist). Traditionally used as a natural fence, it is highly adaptable to various soils and climates, making it an excellent windbreak or hedge tree.
