Mayapple is a native woodland perennial found in eastern North America, known for its umbrella-like leaves and lemon-scented white flowers that bloom in spring. It produces a green, egg-shaped fruit resembling a small apple in late spring to early summer, which is edible when ripe but toxic when unripe.
