Description
Cercis canadensis
The Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis) is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree native to eastern North America. Typically growing 20–30 feet tall with a spreading, rounded canopy, it is known for its striking early spring display of vibrant pink to purple flowers that bloom directly on its branches before the leaves emerge. The heart-shaped, dark green leaves turn yellow in the fall. The Eastern Redbud is valued for its ornamental beauty and is often used in landscaping for its colorful flowers, attractive foliage, and versatility in various soil types. It is also a favorite of pollinators, such as bees and butterflies.
