Description
Ligustrum ovalifolium
California Privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) is a dense, fast-growing shrub commonly used for hedges and privacy screens. Native to Japan and Korea, it thrives in a variety of conditions and is known for its oval, glossy green leaves that remain semi-evergreen in mild climates. In summer, it produces small, fragrant white flowers, followed by dark berries in autumn. Easy to maintain, it tolerates pruning well and can grow in full sun to partial shade. However, it may spread invasively in some regions due to its hardiness and seed dispersal by birds.
